En resumen resulta útil cuando debes condensar varias causas o etapas: En resumen, la tormenta cerró la carretera y retrasó nuestra llegada. No significa simplemente finalmente; presenta una síntesis que podría sustituir detalles anteriores.
Al final answers how the central uncertainty was resolved: Al final, encontramos otro alojamiento. It can mark the last stage after difficulties, but it should not introduce a minor detail that leaves the main problem unanswered.
Desde entonces mide una continuidad posterior desde aquel hecho: Desde entonces, reservamos con confirmación escrita. Suele combinarse con presente para una práctica vigente o con tiempos pasados si ese periodo posterior ya terminó.
The best marker depends on communicative purpose. A listener asking what happened needs the outcome; someone joining late may need a summary; someone asking why the event matters needs the later perspective. One story can support all three endings.
